CAS has identified the need of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) facilities in the civil aviation field in Sri Lanka and worked towards improving and advancing the field of NDT facilities in Sri Lanka.

We have contracted highly experienced and competent personnel with qualifications from UK to meet the EN 4179 standard, as the responsible Level 3 person and in consultation with Aerospace Inspection Training limited.
The NDT laboratory at CAS is equipped with the latest equipment to carryout NDT inspections on the following disciplines as approved by the CAASL.
Detects surface and slightly subsurface cracks in ferromagnetic materials using magnetic fields and iron particles.
Reveals surface defects by applying a dye to the part, which seeps into cracks and is made visible under UV or white light.
Uses electromagnetic fields to detect surface and near-surface flaws in conductive materials, especially useful on aircraft skin and fasteners.
Uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws or thickness variations in materials, providing precise results without damage.
CAS is capable of carrying out surface crack detection methods and sub surface crack detection methods using approved NDT methods.
CAS has drawn their plans to upgrade Eddy Current and Ultrasonic methods as well to serve our customers better in the near future.
